Sanctions or not, those ships don’t come cheap—neither to build nor to run—and that’s before you even glance at the LNG FOB price tag, which was never going to be bargain-bin material. Sure, LNG prices have stayed on the higher end lately, but they haven’t exactly gone orbital, and you’d need something near the stratosphere to make these Arctic ventures rain money. I’m just windmilling here, no access to the books, but last I checked, common sense hadn’t fully abandoned me. Doing business in the frozen ends of the earth isn’t a charity event, and neither is dragging cryogenic cargo halfway around the globe. That cost gets paid. One way or another. By someone.
