Look what suddenly becomes possible when the public starts to suffer and politicians feel the heat. I know those so-called maritime protection zones in Germany—you so much as sneeze in the wrong direction and they’ll slap you with a fine or haul you in for disturbing the purity of the sea breeze. Touching them used to be political suicide, a career-ending move. And now? Now that Germany’s on the ropes and the pain is real, everything is back on the table. I said ten years ago that Germany would start building new nuclear plants before 2030, and I still stand by it—hell, I’m more confident now than I was then. The green delirium is still twitching, but the air’s gone out of it, and the cracks are showing fast. No, this won’t fix the mess overnight—the rot is deep—but at least it’s the start of something less delusional.
