Climate alarmism is on the retreat in Europe. Slowly, unevenly, and without ceremony — but it is retreating nonetheless. Make no mistake, there are still plenty of fools roaming the landscape, quite willing to wreck the economy one more time in exchange for empty gestures, symbolic victories, and moral self-soothing. That species is not extinct. But the opposition to this madness is no longer silent. It is beginning to find its voice.
More importantly, some political parties have discovered something far more compelling than truth: a voter pool waiting to be harvested. And politicians, whatever else they may be, understand one immutable equation very well. Votes equal power. Power equals money. Ideology is optional; arithmetic is not.
Those currently in charge cannot yet smell the change in the air. That’s fine. It won’t matter for long. They are living on borrowed time anyway, coasting on institutional inertia and the false belief that yesterday’s moral leverage still works today.
There is an additional irony here that should not be lost on anyone paying attention. The very laws designed to censor debate — to suppress uncomfortable questions and silence dissent — are perfectly symmetrical tools. They can be turned around. And they will be. The same mechanisms built to muzzle one side will eventually be used to stifle the other. History has never failed to deliver that punchline.
Politicians will not fix this. They never do. Only people can dismantle such systems, and that is a rare feat indeed — so don’t hold your breath. But something else is growing in the undergrowth, away from the official channels and the sanctioned narratives.A new media ecosystem is taking shape. Untidy. Fragmented. Harder to control. And realists, after years of being outplayed, have started borrowing a few techniques from the extremists. Not their goals — their methods. That alone should worry anyone still convinced the current order is stable.
