US sees energy dominance as strategic necessity

Energy exports look good on a balance sheet, but the real prize isn’t shipping barrels overseas—it’s keeping the lights steady at home. Energy stability, not the rolling chaos plaguing much of the developed world, is what will pull industries like iron filings to a magnet. In an age of deglobalisation, production will shift closer to home. With robots replacing cheap hands, the old obsession with wages will fade. What will matter instead: political stability, affordable and reliable energy, and insulation from the tantrums of modern trade policy. And don’t forget: oil and gas—especially methane—still have enormous technological headroom. Push that frontier in North America and you don’t just fuel an economy, you mint whole new industries. Energy is not just a sector. It is the bloodstream of a nation. Cut it, and everything dies. Secure it, and everything else is possible.
