The Long Tail of the Green Grift

Every good Ponzi scheme leaves behind a long, greasy tail of scavengers happily feasting on the carcass. Consultants, regulators, politicians, corporate managers, NGO directors, administrators, project “sponsors”—all the usual suspects. They parade under banners of salvation, but none of them give a damn about the planet, the people, or the supposed “science” underpinning their cause. Their devotion is to one color only: the green that glows in a bank account.

They know full well that the world isn’t about to combust, melt, or drown in boiling seas. They also know that hysteria is profitable. The trick isn’t to solve the alleged problem—it’s to monetize it. So they invent new committees, new certifications, new frameworks and “transition programs,” all designed to funnel cash in creative, bureaucratically sterilized ways. Their genius lies not in engineering or climate modeling, but in extracting wealth under the cover of moral virtue.

It’s an ancient game, merely updated with windmills and hashtags. In the old days, the Church sold indulgences—absolution from sin, purchased for a tidy fee. Pay the priest, skip the penance, and carry on. Today’s climate clergy does precisely the same, except the priests wear Patagonia vests and speak in PowerPoint. The product is the same too: spiritual comfort for the gullible, revenue for the cynical. This isn’t about carbon, climate, or conscience—it’s about cash. Always has been. And if humanity doesn’t want another parade of parasites thriving on invented guilt, it might try a novel idea: stop creating Ponzis based on fairy-tale science in the first place.
